God can or He will?

You know God can. Do you believe He will

The difference between both can be found only in action. There are many who know God can heal, but a few who expectedly go to Him for healing when they are sick.

If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” (Matthew 21:22)

We see in scripture that Abraham ‘believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness”. It is theHe will faith that moves God. Pray like God will answer your prayer, live like God is enough for everything.

In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.(James 2:17)

‘God can’ way of believing does not lead you to action, but a ‘God will’ way of believing is faith accompanied by action. Radical faith always involves risk in the natural.

Knowing ‘God can’ is a good start but does not change your life in anyway, but believing ‘God will’ can have an impact on everything you do. Your breakthrough could be just a ‘change in perception’ away.

  • Do not allow unanswered prayers pull you down from a ‘God will’ way of believing to ‘God can’.
  • While praying, say : “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)
  • Thank God in advance for what you believe and like Peter stepped out of the boat, walk into your answer.
  • Jesus was surprised by the centurion’s faith, who said ” just say the word, and my servant will be healed”. What is it like to surprise God with our faith?

What is ‘believing’ according to you?
Have you been in situations where you know God can help you but you are not sure if He will?

God’s will in His time

Most of us at some point have prayed for God’s will to be done in our life. We carry on with life and sometimes wonder what does God’s will look like or if such a thing even exist?

Often understanding God’s timing is harder than knowing His will. The instant world we live in has reduced our capacity to exercise patience and perseverance. Instant coffee, Instant Messaging and now we look for instant answers. In this pursuit, we fail to realise that God’s will is always accompanied by His timing.

While God longs to release blessings on you, He will not give you the blessing that can harm you. Looking back I know many of the unanswered prayers in my life was only because I wasn’t ready for the answer. I would’ve failed to live faithfully in that blessing at that time.

OT#3 – Peace attracts peace and worry attracts worry.

The easiest thing you can do is find everything that is wrong, but it takes some intentional effort to drill into the good. I don’t know how, but our minds are just attracted to the wrong unless we intentionally divert it to see the good.
Most of our complaints and issues can fade away if we take time to remind ourselves of the good in our lives. The most important battle you can win is the battle in your mind – to replace everything that is not of God.
God has promised us peace beyond understanding, but we must be willing to give-up our need for understanding to be able to partake of that peace. Do you wholeheartedly trust God with your life even when you don’t know whats going on?
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23:7)
If you are always thinking of everything that is wrong and negative, don’t be surprised if the things that are wrong in your life keeps multiplying. Peace attracts peace and worry attracts worry.
Instead of dwelling on everything that is wrong, thank God for everything that is good. When you are doing that, it is not just you being positive, but it is also an expression of your faith. It is you saying God has been faithful. It is an invitation for God to work in your weaknesses and struggles.

OT#2 – Facing the giants!

Bored of a monotonous ‘playing-it-safe’ life? Here’s how you can add some adventure to it :

You were born to face the giants. Whether you realise or not, facing impossibilities is your faith workout and without faith, you cannot please God. Impossible is not a word in the dictionary of heaven and some of the greatest revelations about God is learned through breakthroughs and miracles.
God has given you enough grace to win every battle you need to face. Give God opportunities to prove Himself strong on your behalf.
If you live cautiously, your friends will call you wise. You just won’t move many mountains – Bill Johnson.
Ah Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You” (Jeremiah 32:17 NASB).
If God was able to create the heavens and the earth with His spoken Word, could there possibly be anything that is too hard for Him to handle?

Legacy of faith

To leave a legacy of faith you have to face the risk of failure in the natural.

Hebrews 11:1 : Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

Now how do you get the courage to believe in something you cannot see? In our world we are given hundreds of reasons to live cautiously and I am often warned by people who love me to play the cards safe. While there is a generation arising in faith and love there is one that is losing the meaning and essence of faith, hope and love.
Which side of the coin do you find yourself in?

Matthew 15:28 : Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

You and I owe it to our lives and the lives around us to have that kind of faith, “great faith“. Ever wondered what would it feel like if Jesus is impressed with your faith?

I have said this many times before, “Faith is birthed in trust and trust is relational”. We’ve got to get to a point in our relationship with God where we trust Him completely and then it becomes easier to endure in faith.

The outcome of enduring in faith till the end is bigger than the shame of any failure.
I have been afraid to take steps of faith because of the nagging question “what if I fail?” And now my first response to that is, “what if I don’t? , what if I get that miracle? , what if that person you’re praying for is healed?”

Matthew 21:21 : Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done”

Make living by faith your lifestyle. Expect and believe you will see amazing things happen in your life. Dream big and abide in God and see mountains move, be quick to give God the glory.

If you live cautiously, your friends will call you wise. You just won’t move many mountains” – Bill Johnson.

the best year yet!

“This was the best year yet” I told my friends, after they sang for me at midnight on my 22nd birthday.
In the morning I sat thanking God and remembering the many things I learned and what made this year ‘the best year yet’.

If I look at this gone year through any other lens apart from my spiritual ones, it definitely wasn’t anywhere close to ‘the best’. I’ve had waiting periods that were months long, a lot of uncertainty, bad decisions, financial crisis, personal struggles etc, and I am still waiting for a breakthrough in a few areas.

In the midst of all, I can still say this was the best year yet. How?

“Every other pursuit in life seems like a dry desert when compared to the fulfillment of an intimate relationship with God”
By grace, I went from a “knowing about God” to “knowing God” relationship status this year. It began there and here are some of the key things I learned.

Surrender :-
“The disciple is dragged out of his relative security into a life of absolute insecurity(that is, in truth, into the absolute security and safety of the fellowship of Jesus)” – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

The most rewarding decision you can make is to surrender your life to God. And yes, it is the hardest too. All of us like to have control over most things in our lives, but the issue is, if we try to do everything on our own, we enjoy the results of our efforts and face the consequences of our choices. And this is a never ending race filled with competition, regrets, sparks of happiness, jealousy and a never ending quest for satisfaction. A better option would be to dream bigger. And this time by surrendering our lives to the One who knows it all and is the creator of all that we desire. This could also be called “living-by-faith”. To leave a legacy of faith you have to face the risk of failure, but enduring faith always wins that battle. “Live in such a way that unless God shows up, what you’re attempting to do is bound to fail”. Faith is birthed in trust and trust is relational. Working on building your relationship with God is again the key here. But this will be your most rewarding pursuit ever.

Enduring faith :-
It is easy to have faith when you are high on faith. But God is looking for dreamers who will endure in faith even when it seems to be the end. I recently had a situation where I took a step of radical faith and have been waiting on God for the breakthrough. Although I am still waiting, He has been speaking and teaching me things I probably would’ve never learned otherwise. And one of the things He spoke is “We owe it to the world round us to endure in faith till the last minute. Because He is not looking for people who will give birth to a dream in excitement or after a powerful praise and worship session/word, and do not have the courage to endure in faith even when all hope is lost in the natural“. Faith is not just a positive feeling, it is a lifestyle. Faith is birthed in trust and trust is relational. Working on building your relationship with God is again the key here. But this will be your most rewarding pursuit ever.

Re-defining success :-
We live in a world where materialism defines how successful we are. Yes it is important to have all the resources required to live and do what we are called to do. And wealth is a huge part of christian life and it is from God. But the question is, what is our motive? Are our good acts (etc) just a very good excuse to hide our love for wealth and money? And I have a huge respect for all the people who handle money with the right motives. But it does not end there.

The truth is materialism has very little to do with being successful. Success is evaluated based on the purpose you were created for. How many ‘successful’ people today can say they’re doing all that they were made for? Our evaluation of success has to be based on a God given goal. Goal is to reflect His nature and do His will by being His hands here on earth and He has set the standards very high.
If we don’t change the way we see things we will believe what we see in the natural is the superior reality and that will determine what success means to us. Can you re-define your success to “an entire nation being transformed through your business?” or “God using your business to wipe out poverty?” or “you rising up to a place where you can stand up against corruption?” or “a revival in your office through you” or “you being a blessing to a beggar you see on your way to work everyday?” or “going the extra mile for something or someone you believe in?”. Let your standards for success be beyond what is humanly possible and acceptable. Go after it and starting in prayer is the best place. And while doing that, it is guaranteed that God will give you and your family way more than you could’ve ever imagined. He will make sure you lack no good thing and blessings will follow you because God is always looking for a righteous man to bless. It is His promise to those who live for Him. And well, you could imagine what it will be like, when He chooses to bless. It is very important to get our motives right before we begin.

Yes, all of the above comes over time and after encounters with God that changes our lives. But it is worth an effort from us everyday. I am very excited for this new journey of living everyday surrounded by His glory and power which comes out of His presence in us.

Co-Laborers – It is a partnership!

Have you ever waited for God to show up and do something miraculous and supernatural? I have many times and over the success and failures in these moments, this is what God has been teaching me.
‘It is a partnership’
God, I want to know the difference between reality and faith, between being practical and the supernatural. I prayed that sitting at a worship gathering one evening. God started speaking to me very soon as I sat still in His presence. I began writing –
If He does the impossible and takes us to that place of influence now, what do we have to give? What have we created out of what He gave us to showcase being in that place of favor? Will we be an empty vessel covered with His glory having nothing to give to the world?
Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings. (proverbs 22:29
We need to place ourselves ready for His glory to shine best. He is looking for co-laborers. He likes to work through what is available. Like the water that was available to be turned into wine. While we do the natural we can ask Him to add a supernatural touch.
God honors excellence, faithfulness and hard work and it is possible to accomplish a lot with determination and commitment. This is the secret behind the success of many people who do it without knowing God. But our evaluation of success has to be based on a God given goal. Goal is to reflect His nature and do His will by being His hands here on earth and He has set the standards very high. And this can be done only with a supernatural seal on the natural we do. Intimacy, seeking, receiving, carrying His presence, becoming more like Him and His will becoming ours is the fuel to this partnership. If we don’t change the way we see things we will believe what we see in the natural is the superior reality and that will determine what success means to us.
If God wanted to do everything on His own, He wouldn’t need us. He works through us as we abide in Him. It is a partnership deal.
‘Believe and Act’
In the middle of a personal worship session at home God asked me to read the book of James. The verse that spoke to me was James 2:23 – “Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness and he was called the friend of God” (NKJV, Emphasis added)
When we believe, there will be NO room for doubt. It is like black or white. We either believe or we do not. It cannot be white one day and black the other day. God expects us to reach a level of trust where our thoughts, words, actions, reactions will be a manifestation of what we believe. We MUST act based on what we believe. James 2:21, 22 says “Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Issac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?“(NKJV, Emphasis added)
I am absolutely convinced that God can work in-spite of who we are and what we do. Sometimes we do not see Him do what we want Him to because He is building the character we need to sustain in that level of favour and influence. However, God is teaching me that the above two things play a huge role in living in the ‘fullness’ of His glory everyday!
There is nothing our God cannot do! Keep believing!
